![]() ![]() ![]() I adored Jessica from her tenacious determination to her canny ability to see behind Dain’s cold exterior. She is strong, confident, knowledgeable, a sound businessperson and forced to deal with her daft brother. Despite his behavior and looks, Chase made me fall in love with this tortured soul from the very first pages, and allowed that love to grow and bloom. We immediately feel sorry for this awkward unloved little boy and watch him grow into quite the scoundrel. ![]() We first meet Sebastian Ballister as a child and watch him develop into the devil the Marquees of Dain. It has earned a place in my top ten reads. I laughed, swooned and cannot wait to listen to it repeatedly. I loved these characters and their wickedly delicious banter. I made a request to review the new audio release after some gentle persuasion by audio junkie pal, Loupe Hot Listens. It is the third book in the Scoundrels series and can be read as a standalone. Readers have hailed Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase a favorite. ![]()

Although they have the same goals, Marxist countries are not necessarily on the same side of conflicts because “since World War II every successful revolution has defined itself in national terms”-and, indeed, specifically national ist ones. What can planning scholars and practitioners do to inform and enlighten the political process around rail and bus development? What are the metrics by which we should evaluate investment in different forms of transit infrastructure before and after it is built? What should be the relationship between equity, cost, and political feasibility? The BPJ editors posed these questions to Professor Martin Wachs of UCLA and Professor Ethan Elkind of UC Berkeley after their recent IURD Transit & Cities lecture on Elkind’s 2014 book, Railtown: The Fight for the Los Angeles Metro Rail and the Future of the City (UC Press). Yet the traditional view of transit riders of “necessity” versus “choice” pits low-income bus riders against more affluent rail riders and raises questions about the much higher cost per rider of rail. A speaker at this spring’s Transit & Cities conference at UC Berkeley, hosted by the Institute of Urban and Regional Development, lamented the increasingly prohibitive housing prices in Downtown LA, even as there is demand for commuters to live closer to work and spend less time in their cars. Much has been made recently of Los Angeles’s transformation to a transit- friendly city. ![]() 6/5/2023 0 Comments This is going to hurt memoir![]() This is Going to Hurt is mostly composed of diary entries Adam Kay wrote during his medical training under the National Health Service. With it’s gentle illustrations and simplistic, to the point storyline, I would recommend this book to children who are just becoming familiar with the Nutcracker.
